Alcohol and Drug Screening and Advice
You may be referred to NECA for support, information and a free confidential counselling service if you, your family or your carer are experiencing difficulties related to the use of alcohol, substances or gambling.

Antenatal Clinic
If you are pregnant, ask at reception to book with the midwife. She will monitor you through your pregnancy and be able to advise you and answer any questions you may have about pregnancy and childbirth.

Baby Clinics
At this clinic the health visitors are available to weigh your child and
offer advice. The practice nurse gives immunisations and the doctor
performs eight week checks.

Breast Screening
As part of the NHS breast screening programme, all women aged between 50 and 70 will be called for mammography (x-rays of breasts) every 3 years.

Cervical Screening
All women aged 25-64 are invited for cervical screening. By having regular smears any changes that may occur in the cervix may be picked up early before they become cancerous. Our practice nurses carry out the smear tests.

Chaperone Service
A chaperone service is available to patients.  Patients are offered the security of having an impartial observer or trained chaperone present during an intimate examination with a health professional.

Contraception
All clinical staff (doctors and nursing professionals) give a comprehensive range of family planning advice and treatment. We offer a full range of contraception services – condoms,caps, pills, depo injections, coils and implants.

Emergency Contraception
If you require emergency contraception please speak to a receptionist
in private as soon as possible to arrange an appointment. Some local pharmacies also provide the morning after pill.

Counselling
Counselling provides a regular time and space for people to talk about their troubles and explore difficult feelings, in an environment that is dependable, free from intrusion and is confidential.

DMARD Monitoring Service
If you are being prescribed disease modifying drugs, usually for arthritis, from your hospital consultant we are able to carry out your regular blood tests and arrange repeat prescriptions here.

Dressings
The practice nurses and district nurses provide a wound dressing service.

Ear Clinic
At your clinic appointment the nurse will decide the most appropriate treatment for you.  In most cases ear irrigation is not necessary if olive
oil has been used correctly.

ECG
An ECG – or electrocardiogram – is a simple and useful test which records the rhythm and electrical activity of your heart. This can now
be done by our trained Health Care Assistants Donna, Agim and Janice
here in the surgery.

Elderly Health Checks
Annual health checks for those aged 75 and older. During the consultation we will ask you about your general health, see if there is anything we can do to improve your mobility and check if you are
entitled to any benefits you are not currently claiming.

Incontinence Clinic
If you are suffering from any symptoms of urinary incontinence you should see a doctor who can advise you on possible treatments. If
these do not help there is also a continence specialist nurse clinic that
you can be referred to.

Interpreting Service
If English is not the patient’s main language an interpreting service can be arranged through our reception team.  Sign language can be arranged as can a consultation in a room fitted with a hearing loop.  Our reception area is also fitted with a hearing loop.

Learning Disability Clinic
You will be invited for an annual review with the health care assistants. The review will normally last for 20 minutes where you also see a doctor. The purpose of this review is to make sure that your physical healthcare needs are being met.

Mental Health
Most patients will be reviewed by a doctor in a 20 minute appointment.  The purpose of this review is to ensure that your physical healthcare needs are not being missed and for you to ask any questions you may have about medication or treatment.

Minor Operations
We can remove small lumps and bumps. Make an appointment to see a doctor to discuss this. Joint injections are performed during normal surgeries.

New Patient Check
If you are registering as a new patient you will have an appointment with a Health Care Assistant for a new patient check. They will check your height, weight and blood pressure, ask about medical conditions and arrange any necessary blood tests.

NHS Health Check
A free NHS health check helping to prevent heart disease, stroke,
diabetes and kidney disease.

Phlebotomy (Blood tests)
Blood tests are taken by our experienced team of nurses and health care assistants.  Results will normally be available within 4 days.

Post Natal Clinics
You are invited to make an appointment to come to the surgery in about 6 weeks after your baby is born for a check. This is to make sure that everything is back to normal, check contraception and review how the pregnancy and delivery went to see if there were problems to be aware of in future pregnancies.

Private Medicals
Private medical examinations for insurance purposes, need to be arranged by appointment. A fee will be charged as these do not come under NHS terms of service. Private forms can also be completed and signed.  A fee will be charged.

Sexual Health
We offer testing for Chlamydia to all patients aged 16 to 25.  A full sexual health screening can be arranged.

Stop Smoking Services
Our practice nurses and health care assistants are able to advise you on how to give up smoking, encourage and monitor you and also discuss and prescribe medical treatments to help. Ask at reception for an appointment.

Travel Vaccination
We can advise and offer various travel vaccinations and medications.  Please make an appointment with the practice nurse allowing at least 4-6 weeks before travel.  Some travel vaccinations and medications will need to be paid for – ask the nurse for details of fees.

Vaccination and Immunisation
Influenza vaccination is particulary recommended for patients over 65 and for those with diabetes, heart, lung or kidney disease, for women who are pregnant and for residents of nursing and rest homes. Please watch out for details of our ‘flu season clinics. Vaccination for hepititis, vitamin B12 and the full range of childhood immunisations are available.

Weight Management and Dietary Advice
All doctors and practice nurses are able to offer dietary and lifestyle advice in a routine appointment, written information is also available.
